Eoghan O'Keeffe [əʊən əʊˈkiːf] code creative art @ epok.tech

I make art and creative work through tech… adapt and learn across disciplines; explore natural forms, physics, interactions; experiment with creative applications of emerging tech.

I'm interested in creative, conceptual challenges… experiment with tech, physics, maths, art; develop real-time interactive graphics, web, apps, games, AI, XR; explore new spaces, create striking experiences and utility.

I'm also into... exploration, travel, nomadism, challenges, other perspectives; art, drawing, exhibitions, discourse, learning, debate, reading; music, gigs, festivals, film, comedy, theatre; scuba, snowboard, parkour, football.

Interactive fluid visuals ~ project @ Shelton Fleming, Finastra, Sibos

Real-time interactive visuals for the Finastra installation at Sibos conference in Beijing. Created a 2D fluid simulation that responds to visitors’ motions via webcam, and lets them wipe across the particles to uncover various text and imagery, which gradually dissolves back into particles swept away by the flow. Adapted the Material Point Method multi-material physics model to WebGL for real-time simulation of millions of fluid particles - using my gl-mpm model, MLS-MPM with ASFLIP integration. My glsl-optical-flow tool infers users’ natural motions, which affect the fluid, and also reveals text and imagery, constructing them from particles fixed in place that gradually dissolve back into the fluid flow. A custom animation system fades smoothly between various text and imagery, with one receding and dissolving into the background before the next emerges to replace it. Led the visual and motion design and development with explorative prototypes, and provided comprehensive controls for Shelton Fleming to customise and fine-tune myriad aspects on-site at the installation.

Chorus of Light, installation, AI ~ project @ Samsung, Vivid, Amplify

AI Creative Technologist creating the app and AIs at the heart of Chorus of Light, the Samsung interactive installation at Vivid festival of light. Near the Sydney Opera House, for a month thousands of visitors each night walked through a 3D grid of volumetric light effects, to speak to tablets in the centre to share their hopes for the future as a custom volumetric light-effect filling the entire space. The web-app and AIs capture each person’s speech in any language, translate and speak it back in a generated voice for each language in turn, interpret its emotion and meaning into categories, to sequence a custom effect sent to play on the lighting system - a full-stack JS and Node app, views and interaction, audio-verbal inference and translation via Google Cloud and Gemini, combination and time-sequencing of custom light-effects, real-time networking over OSC and WebSockets. Leading this core tech from pitch to production - in collaboration with Amplify, Lightology, Susan Kosti, Ta-ku, Eat the Elephant.
